McCormick began performing and singing from a young age. She won in the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley Contest when she was just 6 years old and was then contacted via Pat Domigan, a talent agent from the Jack Wormser Agency. He requested that she be interested to work in the show business. McCormick got her first big job in 1964 when she appeared in a commercial on television for Mattels new doll, Baby Pattaburp. She subsequently starred in the role of Chatty Cathy in a commercial which was later adapted for The Wind It Up And It's Breaks by The La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch McCormick won a 1969 audition from 1200 kids to be the oldest of the three twins on the TV program The Brady Bunch, starring Florence Henderson as a newlywed together with Robert Reed. The show lasted five seasons. In her book Heres the Story: Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice published in 2008 McCormick disclosed that during the fifth season of the show, she was close to losing her virginity to her onscreen brother and co-star Barry Williams. The time was when she was just 16 years old and he was 19. The woman said it might have been feasible, but we never had the right time to do it.
